SNOW PLOWING:

Snow plowing begins after snow accumulation of 4 inches or more.  Normally the Public Works personnel are able to complete plowing all of Millwood's streets within 24 hours.  Residents are asked not to shovel or blow snow from their properties into the street.  For information or to report problems, call 924-0960.

OUTSIDE:

  • Disconnect all hoses from outside faucets.Shut off and drain all outside faucets and lawn sprinkler systems.
  • If you don't have a separate shut-off valve for outside faucets, protect them with insulated covers available at hardware and building-supply stores.
  • Insulate your water meter with a trash bag filled with insulation batting.

INSIDE:

  • Close all doors and windows near water lines to eliminate drafts.
  • Caulk around pipes where they enter the house.
  • Seal cracks in basement, crawl space, and other outside walls.
  • Wrap pipes in unheated areas with weatherproof insulation or heat tape products.
  • On very cold days, leave a pencil-thin stream of water running to prevent pipes from freezing.

PUBLIC WORKS:

Millwood's Public Works Department employs two full-time personnel and additional seasonal workers to operate Millwood's municipal water, sewer, street and parks.
